The HKCRISPS (Hong Kong Cardiovascular Risk Factor Prevalence Study) health risk engines estimate the risk of (1) diabetes, (2) heart attack or stroke and (3) cancer, and are derived from the long-term data of the HKCRISPS, the first population-based prospective study in Hong Kong established since 1995. The age of participants in the study was between 25 and 74 years old.
(1) Diabetes
The Non-invasive Diabetes Score (NDS) assumes that you have not had a prior history of diabetes, and is used for identifying individuals at risk of undiagnosed diabetes. It is calculated based on your age, body mass index and blood pressure levels.
(2) Heart attack or Stroke
This 10-year risk estimation assumes that you have not had a prior heart disease or stroke, and predicts your heart attack or stroke risk for the next 10 years. It is calculated based on your sex, smoking status, body mass index, blood pressure, blood glucose as well as cholesterol levels.
(3) Cancer
This 10-year risk estimation assumes that you have not had a prior history of cancer, and is used to predict your risk of developing cancer in the next 10 years. It is calculated based on your age, body mass index and smoking status, and compared with a reference risk of an individual of your age who has never smoked and has normal body mass index.
